GO! enjoys another successful year in 2017

  • Over 10 per cent growth in consignments for the fourth year in succession
  • GO! COOL – introduction of a validated transport solution for temperature-sensitive products
  • Further expansion of infrastructure in Germany and abroad

Bonn, 18 January 2018. The premium provider of logistics solutions once again ensured that a good time was had by all on New Year’s Eve, supplying over 340 tonnes of firecrackers and fireworks to retail shops and private homes in Germany at the end of the year. For the transportation of fireworks, it is particularly its handling of time-critical challenges, legal requirements and standards relating to hazardous materials that makes GO! Express & Logistics the perfect partner for online firework retailers all year round.

Christmas and New Year’s Eve business bring the year to a successful close

Thanks to its employees and couriers who have received extensive training in the transportation of hazardous materials, GO! makes it possible to ring in the new year in spectacular fashion with fireworks and bangers throughout Germany. The delivery of category II fireworks to private individuals is only permitted from 29 to 31 December. The overall handling of fireworks consignments is carried out in special shifts and directly follows Christmas operations, which were extremely successful for GO!, just like the entire year of 2017. The express and courier service provider GO! increased its consignment volumes last year by over 10 per cent for the fourth year in succession. GO! transported over six million consignments during 2017, generating turnover of over €300 million. This puts the company’s growth well above the industry average of 4.2 per cent (source: BIEK study 2017, Sparte Express/Kurier).

GO! COOL – the alternative for the transportation of pharmaceutical goods

The reason for this strong growth is the company’s consistent accomplishment of increased customer demands for their CEP service provider, which have long gone beyond conventional transportation services. Consequently, GO! offers tailored logistics concepts and also responds to specific customer demands. GO! COOL now provides a validated transportation solution for temperature-sensitive products. ‘We see tremendous growth potential in the pharmaceutical, medical-technology and high-tech sectors and are developing tailored logistics concepts for, and with, our customers,’ explains Ulrich Nolte, managing director of GO! Express & Logistics (Deutschland) GmbH. ‘According to the German assembly of pharmacy associations (Bundesvereinigung der Apothekenverbände), German pharmacies dispatched around 28 million temperature-sensitive medicinal products in 2016, which had to be transported at storage temperatures of 2 to 8°C. With GO! COOL, we provide the senders of highly sensitive pharmaceutical products with a new, highly reliable complete solution from a single source,’ says Nolte. The GDP-compatible disposable packaging is suitable for passively temperature-controlled transportation at temperatures of 2 to 8°C or 15 to 25 °C.

Investment in infrastructure and staff

To deal with this strong growth, GO! has invested significantly in its infrastructure. The centrepiece of the GO! system, its central sorting facility in Niederaula, Hesse, is currently being expanded with an investment of over €11 million. The number of regional sorting facilities has also been increased to a total of seven. To guarantee the reliable delivery of critical goods such as medicinal products, replacement parts or tender documents, GO! continues to invest in training and development of its employees.
