GO! Express & Logistics supports canoeist Sebastian Brendel

Bonn, 8 September 2016. German canoeist Sebastian Brendel exceeded all expectations at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro by winning two gold medals for Germany. First, Brendel defended the Olympic title that he had won in London at his preferred distance of 1,000 metres in the canoe single and then added another gold medal to his tally with teammate Jan Vandrey in the canoe double. The double Olympic champion was allowed the honour of leading the German team into the stadium as flagbearer at the closing ceremony. GO! Express & Logistics has supported the professional athlete as a sponsor.

Long-standing trust in Olympic athletes

The GO! group in Berlin/Brandenburg quickly recognised his exceptional canoeing talents and has sponsored the athlete for 11 years. In 2015 GO! sponsored a new boat, which is identical in construction to Brendel’s Olympics canoe. ‘I got to know Sebastien at the Junior European Championships, when he was just 17 years old. When asked why GO! should sponsor him, he answered: ‘because I’ll win gold,’ and he kept his promise. Congratulations!’ exclaims Wolfgang M. Sacher, chairman of the GO! group in Berlin/Brandenburg. The German canoeist is unbeaten in years and has amassed 18 gold medals at major international competitions. ‘Sebastian Brendel is an exemplary athlete who we will gladly continue to support. We warmly congratulate him on his extraordinary achievements at the 2016 Olympics,’ says Ulrich Nolte, managing director of GO! Express & Logistics (Germany) GmbH. Sebastian Brendel has trained at the Potsdam Canoe Club for many years under the guidance of coach Ralph Welke. The federal state of Brandenburg and the city of Potsdam are well-known for their extensive paddling areas and are familiar to all watersports enthusiasts; canoe racing especially has a long tradition in the region.
