Cooperation with the Belgian Postal Service

Cooperation concluded: Belgian Post International and GO! Express & Logistics agree exclusive partnership

Bonn/Brussels. On the occasion of the international "transport logistic 2005" fair in Munich it was announced that GO! Express & Logistics, the German provider of courier and express services, and Belgian Post International (BPI) have agreed a wide-ranging partnership.

With immediate effect GO! Express & Logistics will collect all international letter shipments from customers in Germany, while Belgian Post International will then carry out their worldwide distribution: the letters collected in Germany will flow via the central hub in Bad Hersfeld to the EMC (European Mail Center) in Brussels, from where Belgian Post will carry out distribution via the international postal network.

This agreement completes the list of BPI’s European partners. Apart from quality, the company lays great weight in the choice of its partners on long-term cooperation and a high degree of loyalty. As a result BPI prefers exclusive partnerships.

Peter Somers, Managing Director of BPI, says of the cooperation: "In the search for a partner who would represent us on the German market the choice fell on GO!, because this company operates throughout Germany with a comprehensive transport network. Meeting its delivery commitments punctually and providing quality are important success factors for GO! and also represent BPI’s main objectives. Our priority is to offer our customers top quality services." And Mr Somers continues: "GO! has an outstanding reputation on the courier and express sector, and aims at extending its existing services on an international scale in order to provide its customers with one-stop shopping for all services. BPI in turn wants access to the German market as part of an all-round, top solution for its customers, which is why we have selected GO! in order to reinforce our European position."
The product management department at the GO! head office will in future work in close cooperation with BPI’s key account management section in Germany.

GO! CEO Norbert Suttarp also expressed his satisfaction: "There can be no better distinction for our GO! system than an exclusive partnership with such a prominent postal service as the Belgian Post International. For us BPI is the ideal partner for the future, because we will now be in an ideal position once the postal monopoly finally disappears on 31.12.2007. After starting our own letter service last year with Business Mail we see the greatest potential for the future in this segment."

Early in 2004 GO! added the Business Mail service to its product portfolio. This is a favourably priced product for letters above 100 g. Domestically the provider of express and courier services cooperates with EP Europost, while international deliveries have already been implemented with BPI.

According to Mr Suttarp the second stage of the cooperation involves plans to establish an office of exchange at the GO! hub on behalf of BPI. Once this is in place international letters can be delivered direct from the hub in Bad Hersfeld to the European GO! locations, which transfer all letters to the national postal service for delivery. This will shorten delivery times considerably and effectively reduce costs.

"The decision of the cartel authorities which states that Deutsche Post also has to grant discounts to consolidating services also provides companies like GO! with new opportunities. We are already working on a concept which will enable us to offer our customers a complete service for everything related to their postal shipment", is how Mr Suttarp describes these opportunities.
