GO! General Overnight positioning itself for the EU's expansion eastwards: New depot opens at Berlin-Schönefeld

Bonn. The courier and express company GO! General Overnight has opened a new depot in Berlin Schönefeld. The organisation is thus reinforcing its position as number one in the medium-sized marketplace, and another valuable logistical outlet is added to the 70 existing German depots as the company celebrates its 20th anniversary year.

Its geographical location in the south-east of Berlin means that in the future Schönefeld will be able to provide even better links to the capital's eastern districts and that the area will receiv the best possible sales and marketing support. In the long-term, Schönefeld will be of even greater significance given the plans to close the city's second airport, Tegel, in the near future. "As it is so near to Schönefeld Airport, which is going to have more international significance, we shall be hugely improving our positioning for the Eastern Europe market", pointed out Wolfgang Sacher, the Chief Executive of the Berlin associate group to which Schönefeld belongs.

The favourable location will also lead to an improvement in collection and delivery times for the East, including well outside the city boundaries, for example towards Frankfurt an der Oder and Poland. The new storage space makes it possible to provide new warehousing and picking services. For Norbert Suttarp, the MD of GO! General Overnight Service GmbH Deutschland, the new depot is another milestone in terms of the GO! system's strategic direction, "Schönefeld has special significance in terms of future developments. It is a way of equipping ourselves to become more international, with a particular focus on the eastwards expansion of the EU."

About GO! General Overnight

The GO! General Overnight Service (Deutschland) GmbH is a group of medium-sized courier service providers with 15 companies in Germany. The enterprise employs over 600 staff and 3,000 couriers in over 60 depots

throughout Germany, and has 70,000 customers. Globally, GO! works with over 200 partner depots.

2004 is a company anniversary in two respects - The overnight express system began life as ADK ("Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Kurierdienste) in 1984. In 1994 the network made the decision to operate under the name GO! General Overnight.

Since those beginnings, GO! has become the market leader amongst medium-sized enterprises in Germany, and is now the leader in terms of quality in the CEP industry. Overnight delivery continues to be the core business of the express system. The many additional and added value services fall under the suffix 'Express and Logistics' since the umbrella branding strategy was launched with some vigour, early in 2002.

The seeds have already been planted for the future - the greater international involvement, vigorous pursuit of superior quality standards and strategic partnerships entered into in the recent past ensure that GO! will continue to be highly ranked in the express market.
