"Small summit meeting" of the CEP industry: GO! Celebrates their 20th anniversary with system partners and guests from the industry and political circles
Bonn/Ludwigsburg. The medium-sized express logistics enterprise GO! General Overnight Service (Deutschland) GmbH kicked off their 20th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, 4th December 2004 with a memorable event. 450 guests were in attendance at the historic Reithaus in Ludwigsburg, including 70 guests of honour from the industry. The latter included high-ranking figures from EP Europost and FedEx, the Springer & Jacoby advertising agency and the German Society for Quality. Only one of the 'Big Five' companies in the CEP industry was absent (DHL, DPD, TNT and UPS were represented). One of the political representatives, Rezzo Schlauch, the State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour and responsible for the medium-sized sector, delivered a speech on his specialist area. Sonya Kraus acted as presenter throughout the evening.
The evening was introduced by GO!'s MD, Norbert Suttarp, who welcomed and thanked the speakers and staff. Suttarp pointed out, "GO! continues to expand - we're still growing at an annual rate of around 20 per cent. Credit for that goes to everyone who is part of the GO! system - you all deserve our gratitude." He went on, "On the occasion of our anniversary, I'm delighted to be welcoming speakers from the sector who have accompanied me for many years on this journey."
The key parts of the evening were the speeches, each followed by the presentation of GO! Awards 2004 to winning GO! depots in eight categories. These recognitions will, in the future, be awarded to GO! depots every year. The joint cutting of the birthday cake by Norbert Suttarp and Sonya Kraus constituted the grand finale of the formal celebrations. There was dancing and live music as the celebrations continued long into the night. During the course of the evening, a bound celebratory document was distributed to all those present to commemorate the anniversary.
Norbert Suttarp was delighted with the evening's success, "We're proud of what we have achieved in these 20 years. This event was an appropriate opportunity to take stock and look back on the company's history. We shall certainly not be resting on our laurels. What can our anniversary motto be, other than "Onwards and upwards!"?"
About GO! General Overnight
The GO! General Overnight Service (Deutschland) GmbH is a group of medium-sized courier service providers with 15 companies in Germany. The enterprise employs over 600 staff and 3,000 couriers in over 60 depots throughout Germany, and has 70,000 customers. Globally, GO! works with over 200 partner depots.
2004 is a company anniversary in two respects - The overnight express system began life as ADK ("Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Kurierdienste) in 1984. In 1994 the network made the decision to operate under the name GO! General Overnight.
Since those beginnings, GO! has become the market leader amongst medium-sized enterprises in Germany, and is now the leader in terms of quality in the CEP industry. Overnight delivery continues to be the core business of the express system. The many additional and added value services fall under the suffix 'Express and Logistics' since the umbrella branding strategy was launched with some vigour, early in 2002.
The seeds have already been planted for the future - the greater international involvement, vigorous pursuit of superior quality standards and strategic partnerships entered into in the recent past ensure that GO! will continue to be highly ranked in the express market.
