Bonn. The medium-sized express and courier service provider GO! General Overnight (Service) Deutschland GmbH is offering special, added-value logistical services for urgent medical and pharmaceutical requirements. Guidant GmbH & Co. Medizintechnik KG, based in Giessen, and ARS ARTHRO AG, based in Esslingen, are already making use of the expertise behind these special services. Individual services include, e.g., direct delivery, the urgent transport of cooled products or complex serial consignment notes for the client clinics.

From their headquarters in Giessen, GO! delivers consignments with pacemakers and implantable defibrillators to deadlines. Hastily-arranged operations and life-threatening situations necessitate optimal logistical service and flexibility. These include 24/7 accessibility - even at weekends -, so-called "direct delivery" where delivery has to be made to a specified recipient in clinics, whose vastness is often confusing, and an effective tracking and communication management system within the logistical network. All of the network partners involved are integrated into the communication flow, for example through pre-notification of sensitive consignments and preventive passing on of information when the order is carried out.
The ARS ARTHRO AG company in Esslingen have different needs - their concerns centre on the constant cooling of urgent consignments. The biotechnology company specialises in manufacturing cartilage transplants to cure or relieve joint disorders. Cartilage tissue is first removed from the patient in a clinic, and then processed in the ARS ARTHRO laboratory in Austria. The finished transplant is then sent back to the clinics for implantation. By employing the fastest possible transport times, GO! ensures that the highly sensitive, living cell material is not endangered, as it has to be kept cooled at a constant temperature. The special, insulated boxes maintain the correct temperature for up to 24 hours. The consignment is delivered on time whatever the circumstances and only to previously nominated recipients. It is vital that the process involves efficient communication with the ARS ARTHRO headquarters, between GO!'s partner depots, with the Austrian laboratory in Krems, and the numerous doctors' offices and clinics throughout Germany.
