GEL Express Logistik and GO! General Overnight to collaborate
Bonn/Willich. The courier companies GEL Express Logistik and GO! General Overnight will, in future, be working closely together to deliver express consignments within Germany. The partnership will constitute a synergetic linkup of the two systems to deliver time-critical, lightweight and heavy express consignments.
The two successful, independent express courier networks have agreed to mutually expand their express delivery service offerings, and at the same time to optimally deploy their system capacity. This will give customers a significantly broader product portfolio and an extensive, one-stop-shop service.
The partnership's cornerstone is the mutual use of each other's specialities: GEL, who specialise in the express delivery of heavier consignments, will be able to exploit the flexibility of GO!, whose forte is the speedy delivery of more lightweight consignments and documents - and vice-versa. "It is a mutual development of our strengths," is the way that GEL MD Jörn Wittenberg (40) explains the partnership, which was being planned since November 2002. GO! MD Norbert Suttarp (47) adds, "It means we can protect our customers' interests by offering them whichever is the best practice."
While heavier GO! consignments, including palleted goods and goods larger than the maximum GO! consignment size, are fed into the GEL network, GO! becomes responsible for the rapid delivery of GEL's lightweight consignments throughout Germany.
The second stage of the partnership is due to kick off this week - GO! to feed their heavy consignments into the GEL system. Already, since November, the 3,000 GO! couriers in their mini vans have been delivering lightweight express consignments for early delivery or at appointed times. This constitutes approval for the unofficial phase of testing the interaction of the two systems.
Suttarp points out, "By working together with a reliable company like GEL we can, as of today, offer our customers a service that is optimised for larger and over-sized consignments." Wittenberg expressed his pleasure, "In terms of quality and customer appreciation we're moving to the next level." Both systems have the DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate and deploy cutting-edge information technology throughout the transport chain.
